More Vocabulary Lessons

The Power of WordsIn the days since I have joined the site and quit I have learned more than I ever thought possible about battling an addiction.  I have read many great posts and blogs on why not to use words like “hope to”, “this quit”, etc, etc.

I think these are the foundation of how you handle your quit.  I suggest there is something else you should add to it, I read posts from quitters new and old about situations in life that we used dip to make us “feel better”.  There is a phrase I have found I need to eliminate to change my mentality, “I’m not going to cave”.  It is my thought that this brings the thought back into your head of making dip an option.  I don’t even want to think about it being an option to deal with anything anymore.

For me, I need to remove the thought of nicotine completely out of my mind.  It is not an option to deal with anything, it is not a part of your life anymore so I don’t associate it with any part of my life.  I know I am not going to give in, it is no longer an option.  I do what I need to do to get through, I talk, type, exercise, whatever but nicotine is not part of the discussion anymore.  Nicotine, we fought hard to get rid of you, you are not invited to anymore of our conversations.
