My HOF Speech – The Day I Took Control

Fordblue avatar3/6/17, that’s the day I decided to take control of my life. Just like the rest of you I let my addition drive me, If I wasn’t dipping I was smoking, kind of a double whammy on the body. I decided to stop because a friend of mine posted a picture of mouth cancer on Facebook. She was trying the shock and all method to get here husband to quit dipping. Unfortunately he is still dipping. Her method worked on me, but I still couldn’t quit. I tried everything I could think to quit, I thought I could smoke for a while then wean myself off, nope that didn’t work. After a few days I was back to dipping. So I tried the patches, yeah those suck!!! After wasting about $100 on those I bought a tin and started back again. Everything I tried failed, I even wasted money on those electronic cigarettes and vape products. I could not control my addiction because I was feeding it daily. Day after day I would pack a lip and worry about cancer, I would throw can after can away just to run to the store at lunch and buy another. I think I wasted more money in the months leading up to my quit than I did in a year just dipping. I finally decided on March 3 that I was quitting, I don’t know why, but I did. I quite for 6 days before finding KTC, I stumbled on it and joined into chat. Rewire was in there and he talked me into joining, I did here we are, 132 days clean.

I have a list a mile long of people to thank from KTC. I won’t list the names for fear of upsetting someone if I forgot to list them, but you all know who you are. Thank you June and KTC veterans, you guys held me accountable every step of the way and you didn’t let me fail. Here’s to another day quit!!!
