Outlaw Dip Review – Tobacco Free and Nicotine Free Lip Candy

Outlaw Dip Killer Vaniller SquareIt’s been quite a bit longer that I’d anticipated but I’m finally back with a new product review. And when it comes to reviews that have been requested of me, this is the one that I’ve heard about the most. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked to review Outlaw Dip products outlawdip.com – I’m I’m thrilled to be able to FINALLY bring you this review.

First some housekeeping… there was a time when Outlaw Dip produced products that contained nicotine. In fact that’s the reason I’m so late to reviewing their products. Initially they had NO versions that didn’t contain nicotine. Well, that’s no longer the case. At this point (I believe) Outlaw Dip products are 100% tobacco and nicotine free. There has been some pretty intense back and forth between fake dip companies and the FDA. I’ll let Outlaw himself explain his particular case:

That being said, all the products I’m sampling and reviewing are the 100% NICOTINE and TOBACCO FREE versions of these products.  I have not, and will not try any versions of these (or any other company’s) products that contain nicotine.

Also I have to apologize for the lateness of this review. The fine folks at Outlaw sent me these way back in the tail end of summer and I’m just now getting around to putting my review together. No excuse other than to say life has gotten in the way but we’re all about accountability here at KillTheCan.org so I’m owning it.

OK… housekeeping out of the way. Let’s get to the review.

Outlaw Dip Feature

The first thing you’ll notice here is a really high quality and sturdy can. It’s a small detail but one that I really appreciate as it tends to show you what sort of product you’re going to get when you pop open the can. High quality plastic cans with tin lids = strong start.  I’m happy to say that the product follows right along with the high quality packaging.

No ingredients listed on the can which which is sort of a bummer, nor is there a ‘best by’ date on any of the cans which I’m always on the lookout for. EDIT some of the cans do have both ingredients and best by date. That said, the cans I’m sampling today are SUPER fresh, even though they’ve been sitting on my desk for a couple of months now. Great smells upon opening the can and all flavors are SUPER moist.

All flavors are 100% tobacco and nicotine free, but in reviewing their website I learned they’re also sugar free and gluten free as well.

Outlaw Dip WintergreenOutlaw Dip Wintergreen

No ingredients listed on the can. This is a nice ‘warm’ wintergreen flavor. Packs great, very little float in the mouth and a long lasting flavor. I don’t get the Kodiak ‘shiver’ from this one but this is a very high quality wintergreen alternative even if it’s not my favorite wintergreen out there.

Outlaw Dip Lucky Lipper

Wasn’t quite sure what this one would be upon opening. Most of the flavor names are pretty self explanatory where this one really isn’t. This has some really nice citrus flavors and is really quite juicy. I wouldn’t call it lemon necessarily but there’s definitely some there in the flavor profile. The longer I keep this one in the more I like it. Strong recommend here.

Outlaw Dip Mint

Rounding out the last of the ‘traditional’ dip flavors with mint – this one is tremendous. If you’re looking for something that tastes and feels like Skoal Mint this one is perfect, though if I’m being honest it’s probably a bit easier on the gums than Skoal ever was.

Outlaw Dip Backwoods BlueberryOutlaw Dip Backwoods Blueberry

I don’t think I’ve ever sampled a true blueberry fake dip before. God DAMN this is good. Definitely not a ‘traditional’ dip flavor but one I’m absolutely loving. These are made from 100% food grade products so you CAN swallow your saliva if you want, and just based on the flavor here I was tempted to 😉 STRONG recommend.

Outlaw Dip Ramblin’ Rootbeer

This one had ingredients listed on the can: Black Tea Leaves, Salt, Sodium Carbonate, Saccharine, Propylyne Glycol, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Vitamin E.

It also had a BEST BY date imprinted on the label! Hoping this is perhaps the ‘new’ labeling strategy for Outlaw moving forward.

This one fell apart a bite more than the previous ones I’d sampled but the root beer flavor is on point. Just like blueberry, I’m not sure I’ve ever had a true root beer alternative and I’m really loving these new flavor profiles. Not a traditional flavor by any stretch but they taste simply amazing. Another strong recommend here.

Outlaw Dip Wild Watermelon

This is the first long cut watermelon product I’ve ever sampled. There’s a couple pouch products out there in watermelon flavor I don’t believe there are any other long cuts. This one is good as well. The watermelon flavor is there but not overwhelming. When you take a whiff and pop one in you know immediately what flavor you’ve got. Catching a little bit of float with this one but I may have not gotten a great pack on my sample dip. Still a recommendable dip if you’re a fan of watermelon or if you’re looking for something a little different.

Outlaw Dip Mythical MangoOutlaw Dip Mythical Mango

It was right about here when I started to really understand the marketing tagline of “100% LIP CANDY”. These products just taste really good and certainly do have some ‘candy’ qualities to them. We can argue whether Big Tobacco has been doing this for years trying to bring new dippers into the fold (they have) but when it comes to the alternative market I think it’s a great strategy. These are nicotine free products that are outstanding alternatives to the real thing.

Just like Watermelon, this is the first time I’ve had this flavor in long cut format and it’s great. I’m not sure Mango is a flavor I would have considered but it’s really quite nice. Once again a solid recommend.

Outlaw Dip Killer Vaniller

Ingredients and Best Buy date on this can as well! Black Tea Leaves, Salt, Sodium Carbonate, Saccharine, Propylyne Glycol, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Vitamin E.

I’m typically a fan of vanilla dips. This one is nice, with a nice subdued vanilla flavor. When I think vanilla I typically think of baking cookies with my mom. I didn’t get that here but I was picking up something that I really liked. I reviewed the product description on their site to figure out what it was: toasted marshmallow! Not a traditional dip flavor and not even a ‘normal’ take on a vanilla alternative but I ended up enjoying this one quite a bit.

Outlaw Dip Georgia PeachOutlaw Dip Georgia Peach

I was never a Peach dipper back in the day – I don’t think the peach flavor products came out until after I was quit. That said, I can’t tell you how close to the real thing this one tastes but it’s really quite nice. This has that ‘warm’ peach flavor that I’d compare to a warm peach cobbler but without the spice. If you’re a fan of peach dips you should give this one a shot. Leave me a comment below and let me know how close it is to the real stuff.

Outlaw Dip Southern Sweet Tea

I’m not a Souther boy. In fact, I’ve not really spent much time in the south, so I’ve never had the pleasure of drinking any Southern Sweet Tea. That said, if this product is remotely representative of the real thing, I need to get some right away cause good lord this tastes great. My mom used to drink iced tea every day growing up and she’d put chunks of orange in it which is what this is reminding me of. This has subtle hits of the tea coming through as well as some citrus flavors too. Rounding out my sampling with a strong recommend.

Outlaw Dip Review and Recommendation

As I said in my intro, I’ve been getting comments and messages for years asking me to try Outlaw Dip products. There was a time when they contained nicotine and I couldn’t be more excited to say that time has passed and these are 100% nicotine and tobacco free. And I’m here to tell you… all of the folks that have been begging me to review these were RIGHT. Outlaw Dip has some simply AMAZING nicotine and tobacco free product!

All of the flavors that I sampled I’d consider ‘long cut’ products – I believe they refer to them as FAT CUT on their website. All have great, long lasting flavors and the dip packs and holds together really well in my mouth. VERY few ‘floaters’ around the back of your mouth and if you’re a spitter you’ll get a TON of saliva from these products.

The traditional dip flavors (wintergreen and mint) are super strong alternatives for dippers who are looking for something with a familiar flavor but where Outlaw really stands out is with their non-traditional flavors. Blueberry, Root Beer, Mango, etc. are just plain awesome and I’d urge quitters out there to give them a try.

Special thanks to the folks at Outlaw for providing me samples to try and review!

You can purchase Outlaw Dip from their website at outlawdip.com or or visit them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. All flavors are available in single cans or you can build a 6-can sample pack. Tell em KillTheCan.org sent you!

I’ve tried several versions of the Outlaw products back when he 1st teamed up with Tough Guy yrs back. I ordered the sample pack of what you just reviewed & it is definitely good stuff, probably the best tasting on the fake dip market. But I personally enjoyed the Tough Guy version myself, but this is still good stuff for sure. But Outlaw just came out with a caffeine based fake dip called Cup of Joe, it has 6 different flavors. It is absolutely the best fake dip I’ve ever had, period. Each can has 1500 mg of caffeine (= to 15 cups of coffee). Give it a shot, either way, Outlaw definitely makes some great products to get you off of tobacco/nicotine. I’ll be 8 yrs quit next month thanks to KTC!!!!!
