2008 HOF Speeches

Quit! An Open Invitation

bucky24 avatarA lot of people say that the key to quitting is simply having a true desire to do so. They say that you have to really want to quit. Semper Fi, in his HOF speech put it well when he said, “I still don’t want to be quit. If I could pick up the can and have no consequences I’d still be dipping.” I couldn’t agree more with him. To this day I don’t want to quit. The key to my 100 days of success was simply knowing the difference between right and wrong. I finally acknowledged that dip (or anything containing nicotine) was wrong and then I took a proactive approach to make a change for the better.

In taking a proactive approach, there was nothing better in doing so than joining this website. I must admit that at first I was a little skeptical. After all, we are all strangers in that we wouldn’t recognize each other if we passed each other on the street. But, to my surprise, THIS WEBSITE WORKS! If you’re like me, your word means everything. I firmly believe this to be true of everyone who is part of this site. To put it bluntly, there is not BS in here and although we share comical stories, jokes, etc, everyone in here takes quitting very seriously. I chewed Kodiak for 11 years. I’ve wanted to quit for a few years now, but I could never find that one thing I really needed to get me started. This website definitely got me started.

I didn’t want my HOF speech to be a reflection on my past 11 years or 100 days, but simply an open invitation to anyone who is ready to step up and admit what they are doing is wrong. Like many have said, “there is no better day than today to quit.” So, come on in, grow a pair and post day 1. Stick with everyone on the site and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Thanks everyone!

Curt
