Giving Thanks For Freedom From My Addiction

Thanksgiving Dinner

Happy Thanksgiving quitters! It’s Thanksgiving morning and I’m sitting down with a cup of coffee before the rest of the house it up to reflect on my day. Thanksgiving is my favorite day of the year. My parents hosted for years but since we lost my Dad (fuck cancer) a few years ago we took over hosting duties. Our day will still be filled with friends, family, food, and football.

Thanks For Freedom From My Addiction

As I sit here on the verge of beginning my prep for the day, I’m more thankful than ever. I’m thankful for my and my family’s health. I’m thankful for my friends companionship.

As I sit here on this Thanksgiving morning I realize how thankful I am for the KTC community. These men and women have helped me, and continue to help me, quit this terrible addiction. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. These are not my “internet friends” – these are folks I talk to, interact with and have met face to face.

This afternoon as I stand outside guarding a fried turkey (under a winter weather advisory calling for 40 MPH winds and up to 6 inches of snow), I won’t need to sneak away to have a dip.  I won’t need to “run to the store” to grab some last minute item that we clearly don’t need. I’ll be in the moment, enjoying my family.

If you don’t have a quit of your own to be thankful for this year, I’d like to invite you to join us on our Discord server. Visit us on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Rumble). We can help.  And this time next year you can sit back and reflect on what you’re thankful for… and you can include your quit.

Happy Thanksgiving friends. Enjoy your day.
