Quitters Giving Back

Give BloodIf you’ve been keeping up with the blog or our Facebook page, you know that today is the 6 year anniversary of KillTheCan.org.  It’s been an incredible day on the forums with a HUGE turnout for our one-day, site-wide roll call.  I’d like to once again thank everyone involved for making this the best place on the web to quit dipping… bar none.

It’s going to be awesome when the day is finally done and we get to sit down and tabulate the number of days, months and years quit that roll call represents.  Freedom from chewing tobacco is our ultimate goal and this day is proof positive that the system developed at KillTheCan.org works.  We realize that we may rub some people the wrong way, but we know in our heart of hearts that we offer the best way to quit dipping.  And for that, I couldn’t be prouder.

I was reviewing the general discussion thread this evening and ran across a post that I just had to share.

Got a call from Heartland Blood center.. They have some pediatric and nursery patients that needed my blood type.. So I went in and donated..

Six different kids.. Makes me very happy to know that there is no nicotine floating around in my blood so that when they give it to those kids and babies I won’t be fostering an addiction in their young lives..

Because of this site and all of the ramifications and spillover blessings of getting off nicotine.. Such as taking my life back in other areas, this blood comes from a man who is arguably in the best shape of his entire adult life.

Hopefully it will help these kids get well…

It’s these kind of stories that continually amaze me about the folks at KillTheCan.org.  We came together to support one another in the process of quitting dip.  We share stories, support one another and get and stay quit on a daily basis.  And out of that support, comes other wonderful things.  The poster of this story did a wonderful thing today… he gave his blood.  And it’s nicotine free blood at that!

If you want to give the gift of life, you can find more information at Heartland Blood Centers, The Red Cross or countless other places.

Imagine that… nicotine free blood.  Another perk of getting on board with the fine folks at KillTheCan.org!
