The Pride Of Just One
Written By QuittinTime
There comes a time in this quit-business when one has been at it so long that it turns into a a matter of pride. Not that this is a bad thing, but with it comes the tendancy to hold in any issues of weakness, to keep to oneself about any of the struggles that may be going on inside our nicotine-scarred minds. The quitter feels an urgency to appear strong and solid before his brothers for fear of weakening their quits or just plain embarrasment. You start to feel a bit isolated whether you're here every damned day, or just stop by once in a while. This barrier should be broken in order to continue our success. Even big grown-up quitters such as ourselves have a bad day, or a bad week, or possibly struggle each and every day. We should make it a point to check on each other more often, check our own egos, and not feel that we have to be 10 foot tall and bulletproof in order to solidify each others quits. Pride is a double-edged sword. We should be proud of our accomplishments. But, pride will come back to kick you in the ass. Let's wear out hearts on our sleeves and share what needs to be shared. Whether we are aware of it or not, the battle rages on in the background of our subconcious minds.

The Nico-Bitch lies in wait for one little crack, one small void in our quit-plan to sink her claws in, and pry herself back into our lives. 600+ days? Great! Wonderful! The Nico-Bitch doesn't care, she is patient, she lies dormant, just waiting for that single moment of poor judgement. "Just one, just one, just one, I'm quit, no biggie, just one, just one, just one won't hurt, I won't become addicted again, just one, just one, just one to prove I can handle it, just one......."

FUCK JUST ONE!!!!! There's no such thing.

Food For Thought Brothers,
QuittinTime.

KillTheCan.org is dedicated to helping people who are trying to quit the habit of chewing or dipping tobacco and to those who have successfully quit. The site was designed, developed and is maintained by Greg Bellan. The Community Forum is administered by 7 ex-dippers whose sole goal is to allow people to gain the same freedom from chewing that they have obtained.
