OE.X ENERGY and OE.X ENERGY + CBD Product Review

OE.X ENERGY and OE.X ENERGY + CBDBack today with another product review of a NEW company on the alternative market (at least new to me… turns out they’ve already had shoutouts on the Meat Eater podcast which is all sorts of awesome). Introducing OE.X Energy and OE.X Energy + CBD. I’m always SUPER excited when I see new products come to the market because to me that’s MORE opportunities and MORE tools for quitters who are struggling.

As I’ll be reviewing products here that contain CBD I’m going to include some standard language that I’ve used in previous CBD reviews:

I’m not a pot guy and have never been a pot guy. That being said, if you are anti-pot or anti-CBD please… do NOT let those feelings taint these products for you. Please give this a read and then make your assessment. I’m reviewing these products as a SMOKELESS ALTERNATIVE… nothing more. As we begin to understand the power of CBD there’s some really great products hitting the market and I’d hate for to you miss out.

Also, please note that CBD is now legal nationwide after the passage of the Agriculture Improvement Act signed in late 2018 https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/2

These come in a tin (slightly smaller than a tin of Altoids). Each tin comes packaged on a cardboard card that has nutrition information. The tins themselves don’t contain a ton of info but they do include a lot number and BEST BY date.

The product themselves are small, dry pouches that come 12 to a tin. These are MEANT to be dry so don’t be disappointed or upset when you open you your tins looking for moist pouches. I’ve got four flavors to sample (Wintergreen, Spearmint, Coffee and Mocha) and two varieties of each flavor (with and without CBD added).

OE.X ENERGY + CBD Product

These are LOADED with caffeine. The regular (non CBD) versions contain 50mg per pouch and the CBD versions contain 40mg of caffeine and 10mg of Broad Spectrum CBD.

In addition to putting out some outstanding products, OE.X Energy has a focus on charity. They set aside a portion of OE.X and OE.X+CBD profits to support outdoor and athletic programs for the children of deployed U.S. military personnel. That’s just plain awesome. According to their website: “We are grateful to the men and women who serve this great Country and if we can lessen their burden even slightly by helping to enhance the lives of their children, then it is our privilege to do so.” Love that.

If you’ve read my reviews in the past, you’ll know that whenever I test pouch products I sample at least two. OE.X Energy tins come with 12 pouches to a tin so I decided to go with a single pouch for testing purposes. I was not disappointed flavor wise – these pack a punch. You can certainly use more than one but I think it’s fair to say you don’t need to. And remember, these are packed with caffeine so you may not want to double up. In fact, I started this review a couple of days ago and didn’t finish specifically because I didn’t want to sample EIGHT varieties. I love coffee, but eight + additional cups worth of caffeine would be too much for me 😉

I’m going to be posting these in the order I tried them. I decided to stick with one flavor and do the regular and CBD versions back to back to see if there was any difference in flavor between the two. I will say that there absolutely is a difference in flavor between the two varieties. In general I’d say the CBD versions had more ‘bite’ to them. Not in a spicy sense but just ‘punched up’. Not quite sure how best to describe it but there’s definitely a difference. For some flavors I preferred the regular version and others the CBD version. I imagine this will be very subjective.

OE.X ENERGY + CBD WintergreenOE.X Energy Wintergreen

Good wintergreen flavor right out of the gate. These have a restaurant after dinner mint flavor to me which is a very good thing (you know the ones… individually packed, white circles).

OE.X Energy + CBD Wintergreen

Similar flavor to the regular version but a tinge of something else in there too (has to be the CBD but I didn’t’ think there was a ‘flavor’ to CBD). This is less ‘minty’ the the regular variety. If I had to choose flavor wise I think I’d go with this one.

OE.X Energy Spearmint

Definitely a different flavor from Wintergreen which I appreciate (many times these alternatives all sort of blend together). This is going to be personal preference but even as a Kodiak Wintergreen guy I think I’d choose Spearmint over Wintergreen here. This harkens back to Skoal Spearmint.

OE.X Energy + CBD Spearmint

Pretty similar flavor here to the non CBD version. Less of a difference between CBD and non CBD versions than there was in Wintergreen though if I had to choose I think I’d go with the non CBD Spearmint.

OE.X ENERGY CoffeeOE.X Energy Coffee

There’s a TON of coffee subs on the market that are actually made from coffee. These aren’t (I don’t think) but the still taste like coffee which is great. This has a dark flavor to it, similar to Starbucks the way they (in my opinion) over-roast their beans.

OE.X Energy + CBD Coffee

Similar flavor again but this time the CBD version is my clear favorite. I’ll be interested to hear from other people as they try these as to which versions they prefer.

OE.X Energy Mocha

Great flavor here, with a deep ‘rich’ mocha tones. I do have to say that the flavor didn’t last all that long with this one but it was great while it lasted. If I’m ranking Mocha vs. Coffee I have to say I’d prefer the Mocha (again, while the flavor lasted).

OE.X Energy + CBD Mocha

Last but not least was the Mocha CBD. Flavor lasted longer here than the non CBD version, much more similar to the other flavors I’d tested. Who knows, maybe I just got a bad pouch on the Mocha. I think this is probably the most similar to the non CBD variety so I’ll choose the this one (with CBD) simply because the flavor lasted the longest.

OE.X Energy + CBD – Ingredients

There’s no ingredients section of the website, but the back of the packaging lists this (obviously this is for the CBD variety… the non CBD versions don’t contain CBD).

OE.X Energy Blend (Organic Yerba Mate Leaf, Organic Green Tea Leaf, Organic Peppermint Leaf, Caffeine Powder), Organic Cane Sugar, Natural Flavors, Broad Spectrum CBD, Organic Honey Powder, Organic Erythritol, Organic Vegetable Glycerin and Sucralose.

OE.X Energy and OE.X Energy + CBD are available on Amazon or on their website at oexenergy.com. These are solid products that really pack in the flavor. I typically go with two pouches but that’s just not necessary here. I’d definitely recommend trying these though I would NOT suggest sampling as many as I did in one sitting. Even though there’s a ‘no jitter’ marking on the packaging I don’t they’d suggest using eight in a sitting 😉

Of the four flavors I preferred the CBD version three out of four times though I imagine that’ll be very subjective due to personal preference. The CBD varieties are (naturally) more expensive but I think it’s fair to say you get what you pay for. My thoughts above are purely based around how these products can be used by QUITTERS looking for an alternative. I’m not well versed enough to speak to the medical properties / benefits of CBD.
