Giving Thanks For My Freedom From Tobacco

KTC Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving quitters! It’s Thanksgiving morning and I’ve got a few minutes before I start my day. It’ll be a bit different this year as I’m hosting for the first time in decades. My parents have been hosting for years but we lost Dad this past summer so things will be a bit different (fuck cancer by the way). Regardless, our day will still be filled with friends, family, food, booze and football (not necessarily in the order). Thanksgiving continues to be my favorite day of the year.

Thanks For My Freedom

As I sit here on the verge of beginning my prep for the day, I’m more thankful than ever. I’m thankful for my and my family’s health. I’m thankful for my friends companionship. I’m thankful that our country isn’t at war (something not to be taken for granted in today’s world landscape).

As I sit here on this Thanksgiving morning I realize how thankful I am for the KTC community. These men and women have helped me, and continue to help me, quit this terrible addiction. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. These are not my “internet friends” – these are folks I talk to, interact with and have met face to face.

This afternoon as I stand outside guarding a fried turkey, I won’t need to sneak away to have a dip.  I won’t need to “run to the store” to grab some last minute item that we clearly don’t need. I’ll be in the moment, enjoying my family.

If you don’t have a quit of your own to be thankful for this year, I’d like to invite you to join us on our Discord server. Visit us on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Rumble). We can help.  And this time next year you can sit back and reflect on what you’re thankful for… and you can include your quit.

Happy Thanksgiving friends. Enjoy your day.
