Derk40 HOF Speech – You Have To Be ‘All In’

All InHello, I am Derk and I am a nicotine addict.

The KTC plan is simple. Post ROLL, quit TODAY and keep you WORD. Then, wake up and do it again tomorrow.

My story is very similar to your story. The only thing that is different between me and you is where we live. I started dipping at 18 and for 25 years I was owned by nicotine. I started early on with Skoal/Kodiak, and then moved on to Copenhagen. From that first dip, nicotine was #1 in my life. I put it before absolutely everything. While I was using I did not believe that… but that is the truth.

I was a ninja dipper for all 25 years. I wasted a lot of time & money. I created a lot of turmoil in my life & marriage. I lived a secret life. I lied about dipping. I was putting my health at risk. I was out of control.

Being a man… it has always been difficult for me to ask for help. I have always been able to handle myself and solve my problems. But, this addiction was different.

On 6/23/2013, I finally pushed aside my pride and threw myself upon the mercy of the KTC brotherhood. On that night, I posted roll and quit nicotine. The KTC brotherhood quickly came out to support me. The early days were difficult… the fog was awful and I had to really battle hard. Over time, the battle has become easier. A wise quitter once said… “it is gonna suck until it doesn’t and then it won’t.” Despite the daily battle getting easier… I still need to stay on the KTC plan. It is the only way for me. It just works.

The day I quit is the day I took my life back. I am no longer a slave to a small round can of poison. I am a now a free man.

A few final comments:

1. Make quitting a top priority in your life. That is the only way to succeed. You have to be “all in.”

2. We don’t quit forever here… we quit ODAAT! We can’t worry about last year, tomorrow, next week, next year, the HOF, 1 year. We have to forget about all that. All we control is today.

3. We post roll every day here. We don’t post every other week, every other day, or once a month. EVERY DAY! If I can post roll from my phone in 30 seconds, then so can you.

4. We support our brothers and sisters here. The BROTHERHOOD at KTC is the reason I am here today at 195 days quit. The list of quitters that saved my life is long and distinguished. I could not possibly name everyone, so I will not even try to do it. You know who you are and you know I have your back.

I will see you tomorrow at ROLL. Quit on!
