So Much To Be Thankful For

Thanksgiving PeanutsI’m sitting here on the day after the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend and I realize that I never  put into words this year all that I’ve got to be thankful for.  Bear with me… this will come back around to being on topic for the site.

First and foremost, I’m thankful for my wife and kids.  They’re the reason I do everything that I do.  Secondly is the rest of my family and my friends.  I’m pretty passionate about the things that I dive into so the family/friends line is pretty blurry for me.  KTC and the Brotherhood there clearly fits into this category.  The folks that I’ve met through the site supersede the idea of “Internet Friends”.  These folks, from all walks of life, have been my lifeline through some incredibly tough times over the last 5+ years for me.  And I’m not just talking about my quit.  With membership nearing 10,000 members you can pretty much guarantee that you’ll be able to find SOMEONE to talk to who understands just what you’re going through… regardless of your situation.

And that brings me to my quit.  Last Thursday marked my 6th Thanksgiving being dip free.  I can honestly say that I’m more thankful for my quit now then I’ve been in the last couple of years.  As I move forward in my quit I can truly see all that I’d given up over the years to spend time with my “beloved” Kodiak.  This past year, I didn’t need to sneak away to have a dip.  I didn’t need to “run to the store” to grab some last minute item that we clearly didn’t need.  I was able to sit around and really enjoy Thanksgiving with my family.

Thanks to everyone for helping me along the way… I’m truly indebted to you.  Here’s to a great holiday season!

  2. Yes indeed, I couldn’t have said it any better Chewie. I’m very thankful for everyone responsible for and everybody on KTC. It’s a true gift and an amazing community that saves more and more lives everyday.
